FAQ

  • What is Concierge Medicine?

Concierge medicine is a relationship between a patient and a primary care physician in which the patient pays an annual fee or retainer in exchange for a more personalized medical relationship than is available in traditional medical practices. Concierge physicians commit to fewer patients in order to ensure accessibility, and more attentive care.

  • Do I still need insurance?

Yes. Concierge medicine is not a substitute for insurance. Insurance is necessary to cover costs related to blood work, imaging, specialist appointments, and hospitalizations. However, you may choose a high-deductible insurance plan with a health savings account.

  • How much is the cost for membership?

Membership to JCC is variable based on the patient’s needs.

  • Will my insurance reimburse me for the retainer fee?

No. The retainer fee may not be submitted to your insurance provider or Medicare for payment or reimbursement. You may be able to submit your expenses to a health savings account for partial reimbursement, but this varies by plan.

  • How do I pay the retainer fee?

The fee may be paid annually or in monthly installments (with a credit card on file).

  • What if I have Medicare?

Patients with Medicare may join the practice and receive all of the same services provided to non-Medicare patients. However, JCC has opted-out of Medicare. This means Medicare cannot be billed for any services. Medicare payment for medications, blood work, imaging tests, or specialty referrals will continue according to your specific plan, without change.

  • Who will take care of me when you are on vacation?

In the event that I am on vacation, I will still be available by phone or email for your urgent needs. In the rare event I am not available by cell phone, my Nurse Practitioner and Physicians Assistant will be designated for all urgent matters.

  • If I get sick, will you admit me to the hospital?

Not unless you show the need while in the office. Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in caring for patients in the hospital. Since hospitalists are on site 24-hours a day, seven days a week, they are able to provide you with around-the-clock care. I will act as your advocate.

  • What do I do if I want to join the program?

Please contact our office, and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have and send you a contract for your review. We are happy to arrange consultations for new patients over the phone or in person, free of charge. Upon execution of the contract, we encourage you to schedule your comprehensive exam at your convenience.
